Resignation of +Michael Skelly, OSB
Bishop Michael has resigned from the Companions of the Cross and Passion (denominational member of the ILCF) and is thus no longer affiliated to the ILCF. We wish him well in his independent ministry and thank him for his considerable help and support in the past.
Launch of the educational outreach of the Society for Humanistic Potential
The SHP, the interfaith sister organisation of The Liberal Rite, has launched its educational outreach programme in the form of European-American University, a global online institution sponsored by SHP. EAU includes the dedicated Arnold Harris Mathew Center for the Study of the Independent Sacramental Movement, which will take over much of the research activity previously housed at this website. The European-American University Press has already published several significant new works and editions of relevance, including a new edition of +C.W. Leadbeater's The Science of the Sacraments. Several clergy of The Liberal Rite are involved in the management of the new institution, with TLR Presiding Bishop John Kersey appointed as its President and Director of the Mathew Center. The website of European-American University can be accessed at http://www.thedegree.org. EAU is an overseas institution and does not award UK degrees.
Sophia Circle Consecration to the Episcopate in Ljubljana during the weekend of 1 - 2 March, 2008
Bishop Elect Aristid Havlicek will be consecrated on Sunday 2 March, in a location still to be made known, in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The Sophia Circle is heartily invited to attend and take part in this consecration. Ljubljana has an international airport with good connections to many European cities, also several low-cost companies provide excellent possibilities. Although the exact details still need to be finalised, the date has been set and we ask that those wishing to attend contact B.E. Aristid (Aristid@Lcc.cc ) or +Markus (Markus@Lcc.cc).
Bishop Mike Shaw excardinated
We are sad to report that +Mike, our Presiding Bishop in Canada, has decided to withdraw from the ILCF in order to enter full-time Buddhist/Daoist ministry. From January 2008, +Mike will be setting up the third floor of his church as a Buddhist/Daoist worship centre and running Buddhist/Daoist classes from Monday to Saturday with services on Friday evenings. +Mike is a qualified teacher of Quan-zhen Daoism as well as being an ordained Buddhist priest.
We wish +Mike and his community well as they follow the path the Divine has ordained for them. +Mike writes, "Please know that I was honoured that you accepted me into your association and that I was proud to be a member of it; life is simply leading me in a different direction..." We pray that +Mike will enjoy peace, freedom and happiness in his new activities. Namaste!
Consecration of two bishops
On 15 August, at the Well Chapel in Witnesham, Suffolk, Bishop John Kersey consecrated to the Sacred Episcopate Fr. Alistair Bate, CCP, and Fr. Charles Mugleston, assisted by Bishops Andrew Linley and Michael Skelly, CCP. The consecration service commenced at 2.30pm sharp. The Roman Pontifical was used for the consecration, and this was be followed by the celebration of Mass according to the rite of the Liberal Catholic Church International. The Revd. Colin Stebbing, OEF, assisted as Deacon. The Organist was John Rush.
We ask for your prayers for the bishops elect that they may experience the grace and inspiration of the Holy Ghost and be strengthened for their work ahead.
Bishop Morgan Eagle Bear joins the ILCF
We are delighted to welcome Bishop Morgan Eagle Bear to clergy membership of the ILCF. Bishop Eagle Bear was consecrated in June by Bishops John Gilbert, Charlene Gilbert and Lee Petersen for the Native Americas Catholic Church. He is a Metis Shaman and will be working in the USA and Mexico. The focus of his ministry is in healing the rift between Catholic Christians and Native Peoples.
Fr. Colin Stebbing joins the ILCF
We are delighted to welcome Fr. Colin Stebbing to clergy membership of the ILCF. Fr. Colin is a professed brother (as Br. Thomas) of the Order of Ecumenical Franciscans, taking final vows earlier this year in Texas, USA, and has also been much involved in Liberal Catholicism. He was ordained deacon in March and priested in August. In secular life, he is a Solicitor in Liverpool.
Bishop Richard Saint John joins the ILCF
We are delighted to welcome Bishop Richard Saint John to clergy membership of the ILCF. Bishop Saint John is a bishop in affinity with the Liberal Catholic tradition whose background is in the Gnostic heritage. He was consecrated by Bishop Teak Maria Maas and subsequently by Tau Michael Bertiaux, and cites Tau Rosamunde Miller, Bishop Alvin Baker and Tau Stephanus Hoeller as other notable spiritual influences. He currently pursues an independent ministry in Texas, USA.
Fr. Bill Delahunt and The Liberal Catholic Church - Theosophia Synod join the ILCF
We are delighted to welcome Fr. Bill Delahunt and The Liberal Catholic Church - Theosophia Synod of Orlando, Florida, USA, to community membership of the ILCF. The LCC-TS is based at the Church of St Raphael Archangel, which has developed a dynamic outreach to its community. The Holy Mass has been celebrated there every Sunday for the past twenty years and on June 16th 1999, in the presence of Presiding Bishop Johannes van Alphen (now of The Young Rite), the 25th anniversary of the parish was celebrated.
Fr. Bill was educated at Maryville College of the Sacred Heart, Missouri, and trained under the supervision of Bishop Newton Dahl. He was ordained deacon by Bishop Dahl in 1975 and priested by Bishop Joseph Tisch in 1987. He was elected to the Interfaith Council Steering Committee of the local National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) in 2000 and continues, as Director of The Interfaith Community, to take an active role in Florida interfaith and civic affairs. The Interfaith Messenger e-zine is published monthly and has a circulation of 3,029 at last reporting. The monthly e-zine Tuesday Morning Coffee is the online apostolate of the LCC-TS, with a circulation of 1,015 worldwide. In addition, the print newsletter The Pulpit comes out on St Alban's Day and at Michaelmas.
In January 2005, the Presiding Bishop of the LCC-TS, +John Schwartz, joined the New Synod, led by Bishop Maurice Warnon. The other members of the LCC-TS in Florida remained independent, and it is they whom we now welcome to the ILCF.
Bishop Lee Allen Petersen and the Free Apostolic Communion join the ILCF
We are delighted to welcome Bishop Lee Allen Petersen, OFJ, DD, to Clergy Membership and his community the Free Apostolic Communion to Community Membership in the I.L.C.F. Bishop Lee has been involved in the establishment of several jurisdictions, including the inspiring Spiritis Church. He currently teaches at St Francis Seminary in Arlington, Texas, and is working with Native peoples in the U.S.A., Mexico and New Zealand. In addition, through the Order of the Friends of Jesus, Bishop Lee is involved in helping the Fort Worth Hope Center which provides free food for those in need but is currently under threat of closure from the city.

The Companions of the Cross and Passion, a new fraternity, has joined the ILCF as a Community Member.
The Presiding Bishops join the Sophia Circle
The Presiding Bishops have accepted an invitation to join the Sophia Circle, an organisation of esoteric Christian bishops consecrated in the Apostolic Succession. On doing so they extend fellowship to all existing members.
Bishop Markus van Alphen of The Young Rite joins the ILCF
We are delighted to welcome Bishop Markus van Alphen to clergy membership of the ILCF. Bishop Markus' community is the inspiring Young Rite, with autonomous groups in the Netherlands, Slovenia and South Africa. Learn more about his work here.
St Thomas Parish of the LCCI, Nigeria, and Revd. Ibiso Igani join the ILCF
We are delighted to welcome Revd. Ibiso Igani and his community in Nigeria to clergy and community membership of the ILCF respectively. Revd. Igani is a priest in the Liberal Catholic Church International. His community is situated in Port Harcourt, Bille and Yenagoa with study centres in various cities in Nigeria.

The Liberal Rite has agreed that from 1 January 2007 its Supervising Bishops will now bear the title Presiding Bishops.
Adoption of the name The Liberal Rite
On 1 January 2007, The Independent Old Catholic Church of the Utrecht Succession adopted as its new official name The Liberal Rite.
